Endodontics,
or root canal treatment, involves the tissues inside the
tooth becoming diseased due to an accident, an infection,
or severe decay. In the past, the tooth would need to
be extracted, but with today's techniques we can save
the tooth by removing the diseased tissue inside and placing
an internal filling in its place. Usually, but not always,
a crown needs to be placed on the tooth.
